미국 질병통제예방센터(CDC)S는 식품의약국(FDA)에 이어 21일 화이자,모더나, 존슨앤존슨 등 3개 코비드19 백신의 교차 접종을 통한 추가접종(부스터샷) 권고안을 확정했다.
22일부터 적용되는 이 권고안에 따라 미국 3대 부터스터샷 교차접종이 획기적으로 확대될 것으로 전문가들은 내다보고 있다.
화이자나 모더나 코비드19 백신 접종 6개월 이상 경과된 사람가운데 65세 이상 노인 그리고 18세이상의 장기요양시설수용자, 기저질환이 있는 환자, 고위험군 환자는 부스터샷을 접종받을 수 있다.
존슨앤존슨 코비드19 백신 접종자가운데 18세 이상인 사람은 2달 이상이 경과한 뒤 부스터샷을 접종받을 수 있다. 현재까지 존슨앤존슨 백신을 접종받은 사람은 1,500만 명이라고 CDC는 밝혔다.
CDC는 교차접종이 확대되면 심각한 상태, 입원, 사망율을 크게 줄일 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다. 또 델타변이 바이러스의 감염을 예방하고 새로운 변종 바이러스 감염 방지에도 효과적일 것이라고 전했다.
현재 미국에는 6,500만명이 아직 코비드19 백신을 접종하지 않고 있어 자신들은 물론 자녀,가족 과 지역사회에 위협이 되고 있다.
CDC leased yesterday “Today, CDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, M.D., M.P.H., endorsed the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) recommendation for a booster shot of COVID-19 vaccines in certain populations. The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) authorizationexternal icon and CDC’s recommendation for use are important steps forward as we work to stay ahead of the virus and keep Americans safe.
For individuals who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the following groups are eligible for a booster shot at 6 months or more after their initial series:
- 65 years and older
- Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
- Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
For the nearly 15 million people who got the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.
There are now booster recommendations for all three available COVID-19 vaccines in the United States. Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others, may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.
Millions of people are newly eligible to receive a booster shot and will benefit from additional protection. However, today’s action should not distract from the critical work of ensuring that unvaccinated people take the first step and get an initial COVID-19 vaccine. More than 65 million Americans remain unvaccinated, leaving themselves – and their children, families, loved ones, and communities– vulnerable.
Available data right now show that all three of the COVID-19 vaccines approved or authorized in the United States continue to be highly effective in reducing risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the widely circulating Delta variant. Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and reduce the spread of the virus and help prevent new variants from emerging.

The evidence shows that all three COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States are safe – as demonstrated by the over 400 million vaccine doses already given.
