The Philadelphia Historic Martial Arts Society Hall of Fame held its 8th Annual Hall of Honors Banquet and Martial Arts Expo today.

Among this year’s inductees was Councilmember David Oh, a longtime martial arts practitioner, and instructor. Oh was nominated by Bob Clarke. Clarke is a member of the Philadelphia Historic Martial Arts Society Hall of Fame, Tournament Director of the USA Sambo competition team, and black belt in Hapkido.

Oh has four decades practiced and instructed martial arts and self-defense. In addition to having provided free self-defense programs through the years, Oh in 2019 began organizing the City’s annual “Martial Arts Week” to offer free pop-up martial arts demonstrations, lessons, and related events.

The Martial Arts Expo ran throughout the day on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. The Hall of Fame banquet and ceremony followed at 6 p.m.
